More Of The Tsunami...Damn it. This whole tsunami thing is really making me sad. The death toll has been rising and rising. It's estimated to be 150 thousand lives lost, but the exact figures will take months to calculate. I believe it will be much more than that. Yes, there are people who survived, miraculously. But the joy they bring are short-lived and limited. The family members of the dead won't feel happy even if 10 more survivors are found. The damage is done, and it's great indeed.
Anyway, some environmentalist or prophet predicted that the killer waves will strike again either in March or August. Let's all hope it's not true, yeah? I mean, when will this stop? Isn't 150 thousand lives enough? Taking into account the property lost and the mental blow of the family members, millions of people are affected. Isn't it enough?
Another environmentalist predicts that an underwater volcano in the Atlantic Ocean may erupt soon and that will cause tidal waves that will hit England. The estimated death toll is about 1 million of that happens. Doesn't it freak you out when you think about it? I mean, let's put aside the EPL and think. 1 million people. It's a quarter of Singapore's population. If calculated in terms of Singaporeans, it means 1 in every 4 Singaporeans will die. Not to curse you guys, but if your family has 4 or more people, imagine one of them gone. Now does that freak you out?
It hurts me to see those people suffer, but I'm poor and there really isn't much I can do. I'm glad to see Singaporeans helping and donating money, especially the government opening up our ports and airbases to allow aid from all parts of the world to land here before being distributed to the affected regions. As far as I know, the affected areas' airbases and ports have been severely damged, and foreign planes and ships can't land or dock there, that's why they are using our ports and airbases.
Although there's nothing much I can do, I can still do a part in saving humanity and preventing further disasters. Reports said that the tidal waves are caused by global warming, which means everyone of us is at fault. Just because you turned on the air-conditioner unnecessarily, just because the left the TV on when you aren't watching it, just because you left the lights on when you sleep at night, you are contributing to global warming. And the most ironic thing is that the people that suffered and died in this disaster are those that do not have TV, air-conditioner, or even lights. It's just unfair. I know I sound like I'm giving a lecture and I might not have practised what I preach, but let's do it now. Save humanity. Save the future. Save ourselves.
End...
